Around the Grand Strand, summer renovation projects for local golf courses are coming to a close as the cooler weather settles in. However, there have been two new courses that have reentered the Myrtle Beach market, as well as Ocean Isle Beach areas. After being closed for 22 months, Brick Landing in Ocean Isle will reopen by the end of October. Quail Creek Golf Club at Coastal Carolina University reopened to public play on October 3, 2011. Craig Schreiner, who is the co-designer of the Members Club at Grande Dunes, appointed renovations at Pine Lakes Country Club and oversaw most of the changes at Quail Creek. Changes to all 19 greens, including the practice putting green, were rebuilt with the fine-bladed and popular Mini-Verde ultra dwarf Bermuda grass and 60 bunkers were removed around both fairways and greens. The remaining 36 bunkers were also rebuilt. According to Charlie Thrash, the Quail Creek general manager and director of the CCU Professional Golf Management Program, “the greens have more movement, undulation and personality than they had before, and they’re a better quality with Mini-Verde.” In addition to the 6,900 yards of green, a short game area was built between the 10th tee and the 18th green, which is only accessible for CCU’s golf teams and students in the PGM program.

Vacation Rentals in Myrtle Beach
When it comes to vacation destinations, Myrtle Beach, South Carolina is considered one of the top locations for family-friendly beaches and entertainment. The area has been voted the #1 Beach along the East Coast and has 60 miles of white sandy beaches and sparkling blue Atlantic waters. Myrtle Beach offers numerous vacation rentals including over 365 hotels, condotels, and other lodging properties. However, when choosing a vacation rental property, one must always keep in mind the location! Location is the key to an enjoyable stay at Myrtle Beach and with its luxurious oceanfront homes and condos, one can’t go wrong.
Myrtle Beach Rentals
When it comes to Myrtle Beach rental condos and homes, SC Beach Real Estate specializes in recommending excellent condos, condo communities, and short term home rentals. Since there are several options that deal with vacation rentals, one should know the pros and cons to each. For instance, with condos there are enjoyable amenities that one may not have while staying in a beach home. Such amenities include: indoor and outdoor pools, lazy rivers, hot tub and spas, on site restaurants, and housekeeper. However, when enjoying a condo, one must keep in mind that it is a more compact space which may not be the best option for larger families and friends. This is a main difference between a Myrtle Beach condo and beach home. When enjoying an oceanfront beach home, there is a lot more space, mobility, and privacy! There may not be a convenience of an indoor pool or housekeeping but a larger family is able to have more freedom and liberty while staying comfortably in a larger area.

Everyone knows that Myrtle Beach is most notorious for its Golfing Community. Myrtle Beach offers some of the highest quality and top ranked courses in the COUNTRY … make that WORLD!!! In a recent study, the National Golf Foundation has noticed an increase in public courses in danger of going bankrupt…but the Myrtle Beach, as almost always, trend is saying opposite. According to David Durant, GM of Prestwick Country Club his business is doing well and he believes others are too. Many believe that the excellent reputation of Myrtle Beach’s golfing community helps keep it above water. Myrtle Beach is widely known as the GOLF CAPITAL of the United States, which helps it remain popular among its peers. The worst thing about Myrtle Beach Golf is the choice one must make to go to a specific course. It’s stiff competition down here, but whoever said that was a bad thing?
This Saturday, the Sons of Italy will be hosting a golf tournament at the Prestwick Golf & Country Club. The proceeds from the $90 entry fee will be given to the Community Kitchen. The money will help them with serving their annual 70,000 meals to the local homeless and low income families. If you may be interested in helping out a good cause, either by playing or just watching, give Karen Crisalli a call at 843-421-6419.
